History - A Woman's Way [Sedona, Arizona]

In 1998 A Woman's Way founder, Karen Ely, left a longtime marriage, career, lifelong friends and familiar places to embark on a journey toward an authentic life and a stronger sense of herself. She chronicled that painful, exhilarating, frightening and eventually magical time in her well-received memoir, Daring to Dream: Reflections on the Year I Found Myself.

Because other women's support, wisdom and guidance were integral to Karen's healing and growth, she founded A Woman's Way in 2003. Since that time some of the finest facilitators in the country have led retreats and workshops for hundreds of women from all over the country and the world, attracting women from Europe, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.

A Woman's Way offers a respite from today's hectic time-starved world. A place of quiet renewal, a place for women to step back and assess who they are and where they're going, and time to celebrate where they've come from and what they've learned. Whether for one day, a weekend or longer, our women's Retreats, Workshops, and Outdoor Adventures are led by experienced facilitators, all well-respected women in their fields, and incorporate time for quiet reflection, journaling, personal growth, laughter and time for what women do best . . . sharing their stories with other women.
 
A Retreat of My Own, a personal retreat kit developed by Karen Ely, founder and director of A Woman's Way, is an affordable retreat alternative for women who don't have the money and/or time to attend a structured retreat but still want to be able to step back from their lives - to pause, reflect and relax - and to create lives of meaning.
