  Retreat Description
Thoughts of An Unfinished Woman

Joan Anderson ran away from home when she felt that her life was completely off track. "Sometimes a woman has to take drastic measures in order to get in touch with the person she used to be," says Anderson.

Joan is the best-selling author of A Year By The Sea-Thoughts of an Unfinished Woman, which won her national acclaim. The book was on the New York Times Bestseller List for over 30 weeks. The chord she struck with tens of thousands of woman led to an appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show", "The Today Show", and several cable specials. Readers' responses led Anderson to initiate a series of "Retreats by the Sea" during which women from over 35 states have come to renew.

In her three best-selling memoirs Joan deals with issues such as "Is this all there is? Who am I now that my traditional roles are finished? What am I meant to do with the rest of my life?" Her books are sprinkled with anecdotes garnered from her four-year friendship with Joan Erickson, wife of pioneer Eric Erickson who spent most of his life helping people find their identity.
