A Weekend Retreat with Maleita Wise
October 13 - 14, 2007
Hosted at
Sedona Creative Life Center |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Maleita Wise' experience as
a professional artist and art group facilitator has led
her to believe that the visual journaling process is a
powerful tool for self discovery, providing people with
the knowledge that they already have the tools needed to
meet themselves in a compassionate and loving fashion. |
|
|
|
This retreat welcomes all
women who have the desire to connect fully with
themselves, to find their core essence in the midst of the
changing tides of their lives. While the weekend will be
filled with the process of creating visual journals, no
artistic experience is necessary in order to enjoy and
receive benefit from this two-day retreat.
Maleita will facilitate
the participants’ process of combining visuals with
their written words, helping to give them a new
connection to their inner landscape. Throughout the
two days, there will be time for sharing in large
and small groups, providing the opportunity to
reflect on the power of their visual symbols and
their potential to provide profound “ahaa” moments.
There will also be ample time for silent reflection
as each woman is encouraged to focus on her own
process.
The second day will
include a 25-year retrospective slide show of
Maleita's visual journals, allowing time for
discussion on her process and the power and meaning
of the images she’s used. |

Maleita is a professional artist who has spent much of
her adult life creating visual journals as a tool for her
own personal growth and development. After being asked by
colleagues to share her unique way of journaling, Maleita

workshops for groups around the country, including Northern
Arizona University’s Wellness Program, Girl Power,
specialized mother/daughter retreats and in drug and alcohol
treatment centers. Each summer she serves for ten days as
the Artist in Residence at a Pittsburgh parish, offering
specialized meditation, art and writing workshops for
teachers, children, and staff. For more information about
